Dr Ruth Cameron-Jeffs is a sub-specialist Urogynaecologist. Ruth balances individual patient needs and expert surgical and non surgical care with a warm and empathetic bedside manner. Ruth offers comprehensive assessment and treatment services including urodynamic testing, pessary fitting, and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
Ruth is a sub-specialist Urogynaecologist (FRANZCOG, CU), with expertise in urogynaecology, general gynaecology and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
Ruth gained her medical degree from Monash University in 2009, graduating with honours. After completing her internship and residency at the Alfred Hospital, she went on to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology, with her formal training completed primarily at the Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) in Melbourne. Ruth also spent time working in regional and rural Victoria, including rotations in Geelong and Warrnambool.
Pelvic floor medicine became an area of interest for Ruth during her final years of specialty Obstetrics & Gynaecology training at the Royal Women’s and Sunshine Hospitals. She completed an additional 3 years of sub-specialty training in Urogynaecology at the RWH with her final year of CU fellowship at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
Ruth is actively involved in clinical and non-clinical research, and she has a keen interest in teaching medical students and junior doctors. She is a member of the Urogynaecology Society of Australasia as well as the International Urogynaecology Association and International Continence Society. Ruth is the site Principal Investigator at Frances Perry House for the Australian Pelvic Floor Procedure Registry (APFPR).
Ruth enjoys caring for women over many life stages. She manages pelvic floor conditions such as prolapse and urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, and bladder pain syndrome. Ruth offers comprehensive assessment and treatment services including urodynamic testing, pessary fitting, and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
Ruth operates privately at Frances Perry House, Epworth Freemasons and she holds a public appointment in the Pelvic Floor Unit at the Royal Women’s Hospital.
In her spare time, Ruth loves to read and explore nature with her husband and two sons.
